Bike East Bay is working for continuous bike lanes on San Pablo Avenue, as part of a safer street for everyone who bikes, walks, drives, or takes transit.

San Pablo Avenue is the major transit and commercial boulevard between Oakland north to Hercules. From barbecue to helados, San Pablo Avenue’s distinct neighborhoods are destinations for people who live nearby or who travel from across town. It is an important transit corridor for buses connecting two counties and 12 cities, and serves transit hubs for BART and Amtrak.

As a planned bike route on six city bike plans, San Pablo Avenue is an important north-south biking connection—as well as a major barrier for cross town rides. Thousands of people bike on or across San Pablo Avenue daily even without bike lanes along most of the corridor. More needs to be done to ensure safety for people walking and biking on this wide and busy street.

A safer and more comfortable San Pablo Avenue will connect neighborhoods from east to west and all along the corridor. Join Bike East Bay’s campaign for a people-friendly San Pablo Avenue to win a better street for everybody.
